Here’s what almost never happens: I lose my appetite due to upset stomach.
I am more likely to lose:
- my cool,
- my car keys,
- my other sock.
But NEVER (well, hardly ever) my appetite.
Last week, we had a little bug in our household. This wasn’t a cute little ladybug. We like ladybugs! We had the opposite. So like if we see ladybugs, we stop and take a closer look. Maybe count the number of spots.
“Is that how OLD you are, cute little ladybug? Six? Three on each side? Oh, you’re so cute, little ladybug! We LOVE you!”
NOT that kind.
So when it came time to planning Monday blog posts, my brain said, “OK.”
My stomach said, “I am clenching hard at ANY food pictures, and I mean it!”
Today, it’s only a soothing ginger tea.
According to One Green Planet in a post called How to Use Ginger, Turmeric and Lemon to Care for the Body Naturally, ginger is a digestive aid and it soothes stomach ailments of all kinds.
I decided to make a tea! I simply cut coins from fresh ginger, popping them right into hot water, but One Green Planet suggests you might also grate peeled ginger into any prepared tea. To brighten things, I added a lemon slice, which also acts as a natural pain reliever, among other things. (I didn’t explore turmeric, although I might have).
- One or two "coins" of unpeeled ginger
- One slice lemon
- Hot water to fill your cup
- Put them all together.
- Alternatively, you may grate the ginger and squeeze a teaspoon of lemon juice into the hot water if you don't like large pieces things floating around in your cup. (Put them into a tea strainer for an even cleaner cup of tea!) You may also steep a bag of your favorite tea into the mix.
Try this for Meatless Monday. But by all means, if you feel fine, eat FOOD!!!
There is a beautiful sense of relief when your sickness breaks and you love life again! Your appetite returns. Colors seem bright! Your motivation and creativity return!
But your socks, dammit. You still can’t find ’em.
